Concurrent Computer Corporation (NASDAQ: CCUR), a worldwide leader of on-demand technology that is shaping the future of television, and Advanced Digital Broadcast (ADB), a leading supplier of cost-effective, high quality digital set-top boxes and interactive software, today announced that they have partnered for the industry's first demonstration of an OCAP (OpenCable™ Applications Platform)-compliant Video-On-Demand system. OCAP, designed for U.S. advanced set-top boxes, is a middleware standard that enables on-demand applications created anywhere in the world to run uniformly on any compliant set-top box. The ADB and Concurrent collaboration features Concurrent's mainstream MediaHawk™ On-Demand Platform paired with ADB's OCAP digital set-top box to exhibit an open interface solution for cable operators. The system demonstration will be held at the CableNet '03 exhibit space at the Western Show, Dec. 2-5 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif., Booth #368, location D1.

Creating an OCAP set-top box running in conjunction with an industry-leading VOD platform gives broadband operators the freedom to deploy different applications and middleware with a transparent user interface. In addition, this interoperability demonstrates the viability of running a continuum of on-demand applications on a number of different platforms without undergoing the expensive and time-consuming process of "porting" each application to each manufacturer's hardware and operating system.

The functions of the ADB set-top box support multiple application program interfaces (APIs), as well as applications required to run on-demand services enabled by Concurrent's MediaHawk Platform, such as Movies-On-Demand (MOD), subscription Video-On-Demand (SVOD), Free-On-Demand (FOD), Long-Format Advertising (LFA), network-based Digital Video Recording (NDVR) and high-definition VOD (HDVOD)."We are excited that important killer apps such as the Concurrent Video-On-Demand system are now available as an OCAP application, as this ADB set-top to Concurrent MediaHawk end-to-end system demonstrates," said Bill Luehrs, President, ADB Americas.

"By integrating Concurrent's industry-leading VOD platform with ADB's OCAP-compliant set-top box, we are making significant strides in standardizing and simplifying the delivery of on-demand services, therefore easing the burden on cable operators and giving digital cable customers a familiar on-demand experience, regardless of their provider," said Steve Necessary, president of Concurrent's Xstreme (VOD) Division.

Concurrent's MediaHawk On-Demand Platform is a proven foundation for the delivery of the latest on-demand services, including MOD, SVOD, FOD, LFA, NDVR and HDVOD. The Concurrent On-Demand Platform includes its proven hardware, extensive software, integration expertise and world-class customer service.
