Leading set-top box designer and developer, Advanced Digital Broadcast, has collected top prize in the Best Interactive TV Technology or Application category for its industry-best MHP receiver middleware stack. The accolade was handed over at the annual Cable and Satellite International/Mediacast Product of the Year Awards held in London on May 20.
ADB's DVB-compatible, open standard, optimized MHP stack solution is built on a tradition of high quality software design. Since its early 2002 introduction, it has acquired a strong reputation for reliability and robustness, and has been implemented on DVB Cable, DVB Terrestrial and DVB Satellite Receivers.
"Andrew Rybicki, CEO said "This recognition of the superiority of our MHP products is the most welcome, positive seal on our claim to be well at the forefront of the industry, but more significantly it underlines the industry's recognition of MHP as the iTV technology for today's broadcasting needs. I am extremely proud of the achievements of our company and all the employees who have toiled to make this product a reality".
ADB's DTV MHP set-top box, the i-CAN™ was also declared a runner up in the Best Terrestrial DTV Technology category. This set-top made history in 2002 when it became the first from any company in the world to go into retail sales in Finland. This launch was followed by its selection by some 12 well-known companies for demonstrations during the September 2002 IBC show in Amsterdam.
Anthony-Smith-Chaigneau, Director of Marketing & Communications for ADB, notes: "We have demonstrated through real-life deployment of both our MHP stack and MHP compatible set-top box that ADB can meet all the most demanding requirements for viewer satisfaction which includes competitive pricing, with much more for your money, when compared to zapper receivers which offer little or no interactivity.
